If your permanent or adult tooth is knocked out, try to place the tooth back into the socket without touching the root. If this is not possible, place the tooth in a solution such as warm milk, saline, or your own saliva touching only the crown of the tooth. Make sure to rinse your mouth with warm water to remove any blood and other debris, and try to get to our dental facility in an hour for a better chance to have your tooth put back in its socket.

In the event that the tooth is cracked but not dislodged, rinsing your mouth with warm water is recommended, and putting a cold compress on the face near the damaged tooth’s location should be done to reduce swelling. The same process should be done when you accidentally bite your tongue or lip.

For severe toothaches, rinsing your mouth is also recommended, as well as flossing to remove any debris caught between teeth that is causing the pain. If these do not alleviate the pain, and the discomfort has been around for a couple of days, pay us a visit as soon as possible to find out what may be causing the pain and to avoid further complications.
