Crowns and Bridges

Restore Your Original Smile

Sometimes teeth can become so damaged due to tooth decay, cracks, or trauma that traditional filling is not enough to restore them. In these instances, the most recommended solution is a dental crown. In cases where a tooth is missing or has to be removed due to the decay it has sustained, a dental bridge can help cover that gap.

Dental Crown

Also known as a cap, a dental crown completely covers your damaged tooth. This is done by reshaping the damaged tooth, so that it can fit the dental crown. The crown itself is designed from models made from the impressions of your teeth taken by your dentist, so that it is made to fit your mouth perfectly. It replicates the original shape, size, and position of the damaged tooth it is covering.

There are many types of dental crowns which can be used to restore your damaged tooth. This includes temporary crowns and permanent crowns that use stainless steel, metal, and ceramic, among others.

Your Orange Door Dental Group dentist may recommend that you get a dental crown due to any of the following reasons:

  • To restore a fractured or cracked tooth
  • To cover a poorly shaped or a rather discolored tooth.
  • To better protect a week tooth from chipping or fracturing further
  • To protect and restored a tooth which has undergone a root canal.
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To attach a dental bridge.

Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is used to take care of a gap between healthy teeth. Literally, it “bridges” the gap caused by one or more missing teeth so that you won’t have problems such as gum disease, jaw joint disorders, or a bad bite. You can choose between partial dentures which can be removed and cleaned, or permanent dental bridges which are also called fixed partial dentures.
